The Perfect Red Bean Rice 

Ingredients


2/3 cup Red Beans 

4 - 6 cups Water 

2 Tablespoon Oil 

2 Garlic cloves (minced)

1 Green Onion 

1/4 Teaspoon Black Pepper

1 Teaspoon Seasoning Salt + 1 Tablespoon Seasoning Salt 

1 Habanero Pepper

Fresh Thyme

1 Tablespoon Kuisine Kreyol Kreyol Spice 

2 cups Rice (rinsed)

1 tablespoon Haitian Epis 

1/2 cup coconut milk 


Direction 


  1. In a large pot add in red beans and water, let this cook for 45 to 1 1/2 hours. 
  2. Separate water and beans with colander. 
  3. In the same pot add in oil, Haitian Epis, garlic, and beans. Stir and Stir occasionally for five minutes   
  4. Season the bean with black pepper and 1 teaspoon seasoning salt.
  5. Add in green onion, habanero pepper and thyme. Continue to stir for another 2 minutes.   
  6. Add in coconut milk, Kreyol Spice, seasoning salt. Mix it together. Let it simmer for 1 minutes.  
  7. Add in rinsed white rice. Mix well and let it simmer for another 1 minute.  
  8. Add in beans water( it should be 2 1/2 cup)  
  9. Let the water reduce and then cover with parchment paper and simmer for 10 minutes

Serve Warm with Turkey Stew, Curry Oxtail, and more
