The Perfect Red Bean Rice
Ingredients
2/3 cup Red Beans
4 - 6 cups Water
2 Tablespoon Oil
2 Garlic cloves (minced)
1 Green Onion
1/4 Teaspoon Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon Seasoning Salt + 1 Tablespoon Seasoning Salt
1 Habanero Pepper
Fresh Thyme
1 Tablespoon Kuisine Kreyol Kreyol Spice
2 cups Rice (rinsed)
1 tablespoon Haitian Epis
1/2 cup coconut milk
Direction
- In a large pot add in red beans and water, let this cook for 45 to 1 1/2 hours.
- Separate water and beans with colander.
- In the same pot add in oil, Haitian Epis, garlic, and beans. Stir and Stir occasionally for five minutes
- Season the bean with black pepper and 1 teaspoon seasoning salt.
- Add in green onion, habanero pepper and thyme. Continue to stir for another 2 minutes.
- Add in coconut milk, Kreyol Spice, seasoning salt. Mix it together. Let it simmer for 1 minutes.
- Add in rinsed white rice. Mix well and let it simmer for another 1 minute.
- Add in beans water( it should be 2 1/2 cup)
- Let the water reduce and then cover with parchment paper and simmer for 10 minutes
Serve Warm with Turkey Stew, Curry Oxtail, and more
