Haitian Ble | Bulgur Wheat with Brown Beans
Ingredients
2/3 cup Pinto Beans
6 - 8 cups Water
1 Tablespoon Oil
1 Tablespoon Haitian Epis
2 Garlic Clove (diced)
1 Habanero Pepper
1/4 cup Coconut Milk
1 Tablespoon Kreyol Spice
1 Pack Goya Seasoning Salt
1 1/2 cups Bulgur Wheat
Direction
- In a pot add Pinto beans and water, let it boil for 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hour.
- Separate water and beans with a colander
- In the same pot add in oil, Haitian Epis, garlic, beans, and habanero pepper, let it cook for 5 minutes. Stir occasionally
- Add in coconut milk, continue to stir
- Add in Kreyol Spice, Beans water and seasoning salt.
- Let this boil for 3 minutes
- Rinse bulgur wheat three times until water comes out clear then add it into the pot.
- Let the bulgur wheat boil until the water is reduced and then Cover with parchment paper and Simmer for 10 minutes.
Serve Warm
Enjoy!
6 to 8 cups of water is a lot for 1 1/2 cups of ble. Considering qtr cup of coconut milk, I think 3 cups of water suffice.
